Beauty in the Details - Wedding Details and Inspiration

Behind The Scenes

There's something so delightful about the little things at

weddings. The fine details have such big stories to tell, and that's where your photographer comes in. We are there for you from the moment we step into the day with you - documenting every detail we possibly can, even the littlest things that most people don't even think about, or forgot that they put together in the chaos of planning. (I've been there with my own wedding! I know!)

I love including dress pictures, shoes, jewelry, stationery and more in my finally gallery for my clients. There's nothing more delightful than looking back and remembering all the beautiful parts of your big day. One of my favourite images to capture is of the ceremony seating before the ceremony begins. Seeing the space in its full glory just waiting for the guests to arrive - it's something of an anticipatory theme for me that I enjoy.

Our wedding was at our farm and we bought these cute little garden decoration hangers that we staked into the ground to hang little bouquets on at the end of each row of seating, down the isle. That was one of the little things I'd completely forgotten about that we were pleasantly surprised to see in our photos later on. And these adorable little wooden hearts that we had scattered on our tables and gest book desk! They were tiny! But so cute.

Among the delight of details in weddings is the rising trend of flat lay photography. Taking specific bridal items, groom items, and or stationary and laying it out for some stylish photographs that capture the elegance and beauty of the little pieces that get put together to make the beauty, and the glow, and the memories a reality! Flat lay work has grown on me since I tried it at a workshop in Calgary, and I am planning to offer it as an additional service in my photography packages. The time and effort that a calligrapher places into the demanding task of creating a couple's stationery is something that should definitely be documented, as well as the bride's and groom's personal details like the shoes they wore on their big day, the jewelry, cuff links, etc. If you can have flat lay images added to your photography package, you will not regret it, that's for sure!
